PHASE 1 OF OUR ENERGY SAVING PROGRAMME

This week has seen Phase 1 of our Energy Saving Programme being implemented here at Bovey Pool. With the increased threat of rising electricity costs predicted to be close to a 300% increase (equating to an additional £7,000 this year) and gas being even more than that, our team of volunteers has been hard at work to help safeguard the future of our pool.

Phase 1 is the start of our multi-step plan to increase our efficiency and help reduce our ever rising energy costs. The introduction of three-phase electricity to the pool has been a complex project requiring various contractors to be on-site at the same time, and our thanks go to our volunteer and lifeguard Rob Colliety for overseeing this difficult project. The three-phase supply will enable the pool to introduce energy efficient equipment including solar panels and new pumps which will sustain the future of the pool.

Our thanks goes to all of the individuals and organisations who have supported and donated towards these energy saving projects of which this is the first stage. Our thanks also go to Duncan Locke, Steve Brealey, and Bovey Tracey Town Council for their support this week.

Prior to the start of our season on Saturday 29th April we will be installing additional equipment to make the pool more efficient. Look out for further updates which will be coming soon!
