We are happy to announce that thanks to all our lovely pool users who kindly donated to our cause plus grants from the Tracey AlmshouseTrust, the GCG Gibson Charity Trust and Councillor Sally Morgan’s councillor fund, we have raised sufficient funds to install solar panels at the pool. We first have to change over to 3 phase electricity which also means we have to replace our pumps and upgrade some of our plant room equipment which although costly, will improve our energy efficiency and reduce our electricity costs. Unfortunately, we do not have anywhere near enough roof space to install sufficient panels to power a heat pump. As the cost of electricity is more than gas it would cost more to power a heat pump than our existing boilers. We are therefore unable at this present time to mitigate our gas costs which have risen by £8K this year and are expected to rise by another £20K next year. It is still worrying times and we will continue to fundraise to help with our running costs. See below for ways in which you can help.
